As the team headed to Barranco Camp, they passed Lava Tower. The Lava Tower formed over 150,000 years ago as a result of volcanic activity when Mt. Kilimanjaro was a triple volcano.

From the hike, Shane Shuffield comments, "We have completed day 3 and made it to Barranco Camp. It was another hard day as we passed over $15,000 ft! The porters welcomed us with songs and dances. "
